Marlboro Electric Cooperative Introduces Touchstone Energy® Co-op Connections® Program
As a member of Marlboro Electric Cooperative, you will soon receive valuable discounts on products and services from participating local, state and national businesses through the Co-op Connections program. The program also will offer 10% to 60% savings on most prescription drugs at over 48,000 independent pharmacies and national chains including CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Target, and more.
Marlboro Electric Cooperative is implementing this program in conjunction with many other Touchstone Energy cooperatives, in an effort to better serve our member-owners nationwide. In May, Marlboro Electric Cooperative members will receive their new Co-op Connections card in the mail.
The Co-op Connections program is absolutely free. It's just one more way you win from being a cooperative member.

The Co-op Connections cards can be used by anyone living in the co-op member's household. Marlboro Electric is always thinking of ways to help our members and this is just another benefit of being a co-op member.

What types of discounts can a member receive using the Co-op Connections card?
There are three types of discounts offered by participating businesses: local, regional and national. The local discounts are from businesses that are within 10, 15 or 20 miles of your home. Regional discounts are discounts from businesses within your state or 20, 50 or 100 miles of your home. National discounts are discounts offered by businesses across the nation.
Can the card be used for a discount on my light bill?
No, but it will help our members save money and make it easier for them to pay their bills with the money they have saved by using the card at participating businesses and pharmacies.
How can we find out the names and discounts offered by businesses?
The Co-op Connections Card program is a web-based program and because of that, the websites, www.connections.coop or your local website, are the best ways to access the most current provider and discount information for both pharmacy and retail. You can access the national Co-op Connections website through your local co-op's website, www.marlboroelectric.coop . Local discounts, regional discounts, and national discounts will be listed when users access the pages.
Most libraries have computers for public use, so if a member doesn't have one, they may want to use the library's computer resources.
Also, a list of local participating businesses for Marlboro and Dillon County will also be available at the customer service desk at Marlboro Electric.
In addition, a list of the discounts and participating local businesses will be published in the Living in South Carolina magazine once or twice a year.

How are these pharmacy discounts different from traditional prescription insurance?
This plan is not insurance; it is a pharmacy discount offer. The card provides immediate discounts at the pharmacy. Upon presenting your card to the pharmacist, you will pay the lower of a discounted price or the pharmacy's regular retail price. There are no forms to fill out an no limit to the number of times you can use the card. These discounts are only available at participating retail pharmacies.
Can I use my Co-op Connections card with my current insurance benefit to reduce my costs?
Your card cannot be used in conjunction with insurance. However, use your card to purchase prescriptions not covered by your insurance at a discounted rate.

Will I always receive the lowest price?
Yes. You will always receive the best price available to you through this program at the pharmacy. On occasion, pharmacies will price a particular medication lower than the discount rate provided by the card. If that occurs, you will receive the lower price.
Can I find out the discounted price of my prescriptions before going to the pharmacy?
Yes, if you know the name, strength and quantity of the medication, you can find the discounted price of the medication by visiting www.rxpricequotes.com.
Why did the price of my prescription change since my last purchase?
Drug prices are different from pharmacy to pharmacy. Even chains have different prices in their stores depending on the population they are servicing. Additionally, manufacturers' drug prices change periodically.
What is the mail order program?
To ensure members always save money on their prescription drugs, a unique mail order program was created to complement the network pharmacy benefit. Since most maintenance ( long term ) medications are purchased in 90 day supplies, members maximize savings and have the convenience of home delivery ( at no additional charge ) by ordering through the mail order option.
